From humble beginnings in the valleys of Lebanon to building a legacy in Canada, Nemer Jomaa’s journey is one defined by resilience, vision, and relentless work ethic.


Born in 1936, Nemer was introduced to hard work at an early age, helping his father farm the family’s land by just seven years old. These early experiences instilled in him a deep sense of discipline, responsibility, and perseverance—values that would shape his future.


By the age of 20, Nemer had mastered the trade of carpentry, developing the skills that would become the foundation of his life’s work.


In 1966, with unwavering determination, he immigrated to Canada with his wife and young family, settling in Calgary, Alberta. Starting from the ground up in a new country, he quickly entered the construction industry, contributing to major projects—including work on a 30-storey building—despite facing the challenges of a new language and unfamiliar environment.

Refusing to settle, Nemer took a bold step forward. By 1967, he began taking on his own projects, acquiring properties and transforming them through hands-on craftsmanship and strategic vision. His ability to see potential where others did not became a defining trait.


In 1977, that vision was formalized with the founding of Jomaa & Sons Construction Ltd.—a company built not just on construction, but on integrity, family values, and long-term thinking.


Today, that same foundation continues to drive JOMAA forward—shaping communities, creating lasting value, and carrying forward a legacy built on hard work, trust, and excellence.


COMPANY TIMELINE

 

  • 1977 – Jomaa & Sons Construction Ltd. is incorporated in Alberta, marking the beginning of a growing real estate presence across Calgary through strategic land acquisition.
  • 1982 – Expansion accelerates with the acquisition of significant land holdings across key areas of the city.
  • 1984 – Acquisition of a six-storey apartment building in Bankview, establishing a foothold in multi-family residential investment.
  • 2006 – Transition into large-scale visioning with the initiation of master-planned community development.
  • 2010 – Completion of the company’s first major development project.
  • 2012 – Successful delivery of a 100-estate lot subdivision, reinforcing a reputation for quality land development.
  • 2014 – Launch of Hafiza Homes, a premium custom home builder, with the opening of its first show homes in West Springs, Calgary.
  • 2017 – Development of Phase 2 in West Springs, continuing the company’s expansion in one of Calgary’s most desirable communities.
  • 2022 – Approval of the West Springs Landing (WSL) project—a mixed-use development featuring retail, commercial, and multi-family buildings with underground parkades.
  • 2024 – Jomaa & Sons Construction Ltd. rebrands to JOMAA, reflecting its evolution into a fully integrated real estate developer spanning land acquisition, development, construction, and asset management.
  • 2024 – Following strong pre-leasing success prior to construction, development of the WSL Shopping Centre officially begins.
  • 2024 – Construction commences on the new JOMAA corporate headquarters, located within the WSL development.
  • 2025 – WSL Shopping Centre nears completion after approximately one year of construction.
  • 2026 – First commercial tenants open for business at WSL, activating the retail and commercial hub.
  • 2026 – Completion of the JOMAA headquarters, centrally located within West Springs Landing in the heart of West Springs, Calgary.

Today, JOMAA stands as a full-service real estate developer, managing every stage of the development lifecycle—from land acquisition and planning to construction and long-term ownership.

The company’s transformation was formalized in 2024 with its rebrand to JOMAA, representing its growth beyond construction into a vertically integrated development firm.

At the center of this evolution is West Springs Landing, a flagship project that embodies the company’s vision—modern design, strong tenancy, and long-term asset value. With successful pre-leasing prior to construction, the project reflects both market confidence and disciplined execution.


As of 2026:

  • The WSL Shopping Centre is fully realized and activated with commercial tenants
  • JOMAA’s new corporate headquarters stands at the heart of the development
  • The company continues to expand its portfolio across Calgary
